For those of us who hold space for others, tuning into our own needs can be a challenging task. Throughout my life, I’ve found it very easy to validate and attend to other peoples’ needs, but struggled to do the same for my own.
For me, learning to listen to and trust my intuition has been a game changer in terms of my self care, and has allowed me to increase my quality of life more than I ever thought possible. Listening to a voice deeper than the voice of my mind has given birth to the ability to hold space for others in a much healthier way, while staying in alignment and integrity.
As I’ve deepened my relationship with my intuition/inner voice, I’ve found it really helpful to add reminder alarms on my phone with words or phrases that prompt me to tune into myself.
Over the past few weeks, though, my intuition has been urging me to spend less time on my phone, so I replaced the alarms with wallpapers like this one:
Seeing the reminder before I unlock my phone causes me to pause. It interrupts the compulsion to check my phone every 10 minutes. It reminds me of what’s actually important, and it gives me the answer that my mind is subconsciously searching for by reaching for my phone in the first place.
Creating one wallpaper inspired me to create more, so I thought, “why don’t I give these away?”
So many people I talk to are craving more connection to themselves, and less connection to their devices. Why not turn our phones into a tool to help us tune in, not out?
